HOM is a conceptual matcha sanctuary set in the highlands of Norway
Offering a hands-on, nature-inspired experience. Rooted in sustainability and traditional craftsmanship, HOM allows visitors to harvest ingredients, handcraft matcha, and engage in soap-making and wool blanket crafting.
Process
For this project, ideation started with exploring what a fun, experience-driven hospitality brand could look like. I ended up going down a deep rabbit hole on Norway — drawn in by its rugged terrain and raw, natural beauty. That got me thinking, what better to pair with that kind of landscape than the calm and peaceful ritual of matcha? What started as a simple matcha shop evolved into something more hands-on — a workshop space where people can learn to make things from scratch.
Branding & Logo
The logo and color palette I developed for this brand are designed to reflect the natural terrain where the shop is located, while also embracing the soft, rounded aesthetic commonly found in matcha branding. HOM is more than just a retreat—it's a sense of home. The name carries layered meaning, with ‘H’ representing Handcrafted and ‘M’ standing for Memories, forming the brand's tagline: Handcrafted Memories. The 'O' at the center of the logo features a subtle line beneath it, symbolizing a glacial boulder left behind as the ice receded from the land—a quiet nod to the natural history and rugged beauty of the terrain that inspired the brand.
Next Steps
Next up is designing the layout for an app where users can easily sign up for workshops, check their status, and set reminders. I’ll also need to run user testing on the website to make sure the flow feels intuitive and everything’s accessible.
